Advantages of Hiring a Port Republic Defense Attorney

New Jersey criminal defendants appearing at municipal court often wrongfully assume they don't need an attorney if the offense is minor. However, in New Jersey, you can still face significant fines and jail time for minor offenses, as well as a criminal record that could be a permanent reminder of the crime. An experienced attorney can often help you avoid the worst outcomes in these cases by negotiating for reduced charges, lighter penalties, and even having the charges dropped. If you're eligible for a diversionary program such as Pre-Trial Intervention or Conditional Discharge (which helps you avoid jail time and a criminal record), your attorney can also help with the complicated application process to give you the best chances for acceptance.
