Why You Need a Good Attorney at Margate Municipal Court

It's never a good idea to face criminal charges without the help of an attorney, even if the offenses are seemingly minor. Even minor disorderly persons offenses heard in municipal court can result in fines, probation, and/or jail time if you're convicted--not to mention the creation of a criminal record that could haunt you for years. Your best chance of obtaining a better result is to hire an experienced criminal defense attorney with specific experience in New Jersey's municipal courts. A good attorney will know how to work with the court and prosecutors to negotiate for reduced penalties, downgraded charges, and even have charges dismissed. You may also be eligible for a diversionary program (such as Pre-Trial Intervention or Conditional Discharge), which can lead to charges being dismissed and a clean criminal record. Your lawyer can assist you in applying so that you have the greatest possibility of acceptance.
