NJ Man Accused of Sex Trafficking and Gets Decades in Prison

In December 2024, a registered sex offender from New Jersey, Semaj A. Gilmore, was sentenced to prison for sex trafficking minors. According to court documents, Gilmore transported three minor victims from Philadelphia, PA, to New Jersey for commercial sex acts between September 2020 and April 2021. All the victims were under 18 years old, and Gilmore was required to register as a sex offender during this period due to a prior conviction.

After pleading guilty, Gilmore was sentenced by U.S. Chief District Judge Renée Marie Bumb to 21 years and 8 months in prison (260 months), along with 10 years of supervised release.

You Need a Strong Defense for Serious Crimes

Sex trafficking is a grave offense in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, particularly when minors are involved. Judges in these cases rarely show leniency, and navigating such accusations requires experienced legal counsel. Crossing state lines adds further complexity, often involving multiple jurisdictions and elevating the case to the federal level. Any misstep in the legal process, from case filing to courtroom proceedings, could drastically impact the outcome.
