The guilty counts included two counts of aggravated sexual assault and five counts of second-degree sexual assault. The jury acquitted Henry Parker on three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and could not come to a decision on three additional counts.

Aggravated Sexual Assault in NJ

In New Jersey, aggravated sexual assault is the most severe sex crime involving a victim who is either under 13 years of age or between 13 and 16 if the defendant was a family member or had power over the victim. Aggravated sexual assault may also involve an older victim if the assault occurs during the commission of another crime or involves a weapon. It is punishable as a first-degree crime with a long prison term up to a life sentence and a fine of up to $200,000. There is no statute of limitations for sexual assault in New Jersey.

Issues With Allegations of Sexual Assault

It is important to take allegations of sexual assault seriously and investigate them thoroughly. However, it's crucial to remember that not all allegations are true. Aggravated sexual assault cases may involve acts that occurred many years ago. Sometimes, allegations of sexual assault may be made during divorce or custody proceedings or as an act of revenge. Charges of this nature can result in severe consequences, including long prison sentences and broken families.

If You Are Accused of Sexual Assault or Abuse

If you are accused of sexual assault or abuse of a minor, it is crucial to seek experienced legal counsel immediately. Acting quickly and being careful about what you say and do is essential. Contact the Lento Law Firm Criminal Defense Team to discuss the details of your case and plan your defense.
