Why Hiring Legal Counsel Is Essential

While you are legally allowed to represent yourself in Municipal Court, this approach can carry considerable risks. Even seemingly minor offenses under New Jersey law can lead to serious penalties, including fines, jail sentences, and a lingering criminal record. Without a clear understanding of the law, self-representation could lead to severe and unnecessary consequences.

The Criminal Defense Team at the Lento Law Firm has extensive experience navigating New Jersey's municipal court system. Our team works tirelessly to fight the charges against you, whether seeking acquittal, advocating for reduced penalties or charges, or even obtaining dismissal of the charges. For those who qualify, we can also explore diversionary programs like Pre-Trial Intervention (PTI) or Conditional Discharge, which may help you avoid a formal conviction.

At the Lento Law Firm, we assist clients with various legal matters in Dumont Municipal Court, including but not limited to the following:

  • Challenging traffic infractions
  • DWI cases
  • Simple assault charges
