Domestic Dispute Escalates and Places Entire Neighborhood In Harm's Way

Posted by Joseph D. Lento | Oct 28, 2024 | 0 Comments

A New Jersey man is accused of turning a domestic dispute into a terribly dangerous situation. Leonard Jones, from South Brunswick, allegedly set fire to his girlfriend's parents' home, forcing all occupants to flee the property in the early morning. Local police were already en route to the house because Jones had refused to leave the property after a heated argument with his partner. But before officers could arrive, 911 received a 2nd call reporting a massive fire engulfing the house.

There were four occupants of the house, and fortunately, all four individuals were able to escape safely. However, the fire required nearly six dozen firefighters to control, and the inferno threatened the safety of neighbors who had to evacuate their own properties quickly. After arriving at the scene, police arrested and charged Jones with aggravated arson and domestic violence.

How Criminal Defense Attorneys Help When You Face Accusations

If NJ police respond to a call and discover a blazing inferno swallowing the home of an alleged domestic dispute, they will not be keen to believe the accused's side of the story. Whatever situation led to your criminal charges, know that investigators aiming to talk to you are doing so in order to gain valuable information they can use to secure a prosecution. For the best chance at beating your charges or avoiding significant prison time, you need a partner who will protect your rights during all upcoming legal proceedings.

The Lento Law Firm Criminal Defense Team can assist you from the moment you are taken into custody. By hiring experienced criminal defense attorneys, you can:

  • Avoid self-incrimination during interviews and investigations
  • Gain a better understanding of what your charges entail and what effect they can have on your future
  • Avoid common pitfalls that New Jersey residents deal with after their arrests
  • Eliminate the chance of emotional decision-making regarding plea deals and defense options
  • Paint yourself in the best light to the judge and jury overseeing your case
  • Acquire the best criminal defense possible, given the facts of your case

After your arrest, the worst thing you can do is provide prosecutors with additional evidence they can use against you in court. That's why we emphasize contacting the Lento Law Firm Criminal Defense Team as soon as possible to represent you during all formal interviews and meetings between now and your eventual day in court.

The Lento Law Firm Can Protect Your Future After Criminal Allegations
